Set in 13th Century Scotland, Braveheart is considered one of the best war movies of all time. Written by Randall Wallace and directed by Mel Gibson, Braveheart is a story about William Wallace, a Scottish man who decides to fight the English to free his country. This movie is part historical and part mythological, and tells how Wallace was angered when the English King gives nobility the right to take all brides on their wedding night. King Edward the Longshanks has his eyes set on the crown of Scotland. Not happy about the ruthless English invaders, the Scots turn to Wallace to lead them in an attack. Braveheart, starring Mel Gibson, Sophie Marceau, and Patrick McGoohan, is just one of the top war movies that are heart-warming and inspirational.

One of the best war movies of all time is Saving Private Ryan, directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Robert Rodat. This moving tale takes place during the invasion of Normandy in 1944. After three brothers were killed in action in different locations during the war effort, a US Army Chief sends out a team of eight men to find the remaining brother and keep him safe so he can return to his mother. The trouble is that no one knows if Pvt. Ryan is dead or alive. The movie stars Tom Hanks as Capt. John H. Miller, Matt Damon as Pvt. James Francis Ryan, and Tom Sizemore as Sgt. Mike Horvath. If you enjoy war movies, this film should be at the top of your must-see list.

The twins find their mother’s past is a history full of turmoil and as the mystery of their mother’s life unfolds, they learn about their own past. This touching film, one of the best war movies of the year, keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Raine’s group finds out, they want to utilize the event to bring a quick end to the war.  This war movie stars Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, and Eli Roth.
